May. 11th, 2016 07:18 pmOkay, guys.
Far be it from me to be the bad guy and it seriously pains me to have to do this, but we need to have a serious conversation about the fact that you keep ending up in my ER on my shifts. Especially for really, really, stupid reasons, Courfeyrac.
I mean, you DID convince Javert to let you bring me coffee on your way in, which was..sweet, if a little bit crazy, but we've talked about beating people up on the street just because you don't like them. And beating people up on the street when you're the one throwing the first punch. And bringing your sword into...
You know what? No. We're going to talk about this seriously and in more detail when I'm off my shift. You probably want to think about your explanations now because I'm pretty close to sending you back to live with Marius, okay?
And the same applies to everybody else. When your supervisor knows your friends by sight alone and asks them about how your other friends are...it's way too close a relationship with the hospital, guys. That's all there is to it.
We really, really need to do this better in the future, yeah?

Date: 2016-05-12 12:48 am (UTC)You should know that after HOW many years is it? You were eight?
And it was worth it. All of it. Besides, Marius loves me. Which you obviously don't.

Date: 2016-05-12 12:51 am (UTC)...It is going to be my epee in a couple hours, I swear. Not to mention the guy you got into it with. You really need to deal with that. I know how to get his number...

Date: 2016-05-12 12:56 am (UTC)...Well, medical ethical issues aside, that's a no.

Date: 2016-05-12 01:40 am (UTC)I believe I found a book of yours. I could drop it in the post if I had an idea where to send it.

Date: 2016-05-12 01:43 am (UTC)Sorry you had to walk in on...this. It's a little bit weird, I know. But actually, yeah I am. I'd REALLY appreciate that. I was wondering where some of it had gone.
I also do some work over at the Necker clinic if that's any closer for you. And I do appreciate this a lot.

Date: 2016-05-12 01:47 am (UTC)Seriously though, she had heels on and a heart complaint. Hardly prime conditions for chasing after someone.
And well - she yelled enough at me the time I pitched myself off a horse.
I'll see what I can do.
Is your friend all right? Epee injuries can be nasty.

Date: 2016-05-12 02:30 am (UTC)Oh Good. You were. Not that friends with heart conditions are a good thing, but. It's nice to know there are still sane people among the city.
Pitched yourself off a horse? Seriously?
And he's fine. Or he will be HE was the one with the weapon. Got himself roughed up when the cops arrived, but it's mostly contusion and a fairly long cut I got to stitch.

Date: 2016-05-12 02:32 am (UTC)But no, I'm mostly fine thanks. :)
He yelled at me and said he shouldn't numb the area. That did make me sad.

Date: 2016-05-12 02:46 am (UTC)And - well - a horse. And a fence. Broke my arm. I was okay in the end but you'd think Yvette thinks all fences are out for my blood at times.
Perhaps he'll be happier, since I've dropped off that book.

Date: 2016-05-12 03:14 am (UTC)Dangerous things, fences. Jumping them CAN help but you do have to be careful I guess.

Date: 2016-05-12 03:23 am (UTC)I'll be careful? I won't be in Paris too long though, so I should be all right. It's kind of funny, back on Lorena Station . . . .
Well, I hope you heal up well.

Date: 2016-05-12 04:01 am (UTC)That's so...that's kind of fantastically cool. What's it LIKE all the way out there? Is there anything different? I've sort of always wanted to travel further than the planet but...

Date: 2016-05-12 04:23 am (UTC)So tons of airlocks, because yavanite dust is pretty nasty stuff. It reacts to electrical shocks and heat, so there's safety precautions. Lots of canals. That's for water filtration, and - I guess the looks? You get ExtSec patrolling, kind of like the cops here. My family's done a lot of ExtSec jobs. Blue uniforms. IntSec is corporate security and that's grey.
Company store is mostly Russian stuff, so I'm a terrible tourist trying to recognize if I'm looking at lipstick or lip balm kind of issues.

Date: 2016-05-12 06:17 am (UTC)Ah okay, airlocks. Airlocks make sense. I think I might be a little bit eager for real air though. I sort of like to crack open windows when I can. People say I lean out of them too much for my own good and I'm going to fall someday. My last roommate before my friends and I got our place was like that.
Canals DO sound romantic. And hah. Our labeling IS a little bit weird if you're used to something total else. Russian's got the...character things right? I was always really really good at Greek, but..

Date: 2016-05-12 06:25 am (UTC)In Lorena, the fog rolls in and it glows. Yavanite dust. Not really a breathing hazard, unless it's a really bad day, but that's the theory as to why. And you get days where there's pulses. Like lightning hitting a steeple, only it's just invisibly, your electronics break down. So lots of insulation on things. TV and radio get static filled and if it's a color broadcast, the colors get worse too.
That means a standard engine has issues if it's anything more complex than some pistons and a spark source. Yavanite, on the other hand, just needs an electric charge or heat (if it's nice and stable and uncracked and - you get the picture.) At that point, it forms it's own gravity field, causing your chunk of metal to become floating. Or even pushing away from where you are.
... I'm rambling. Sorry.

Date: 2016-05-12 06:27 am (UTC)Hey no, this is pretty great. You're GOOD at describing all of this. And it sounds like an interesting place to be. Well the breakdowns not so much. I hate when our power goes down here. Which it's done during the summers, pretty often. Or sometimes it just ...seems to. Drives our landlady insane when we call to complain.

Date: 2016-05-12 06:34 am (UTC)I mean, it's not all - visiting the planet below was always nice. You can't for example, climb trees in Lorena. No wind, so they don't get stretched and grow strong enough to take the weight.

Date: 2016-05-12 03:24 am (UTC)Good luck on your shift.

Date: 2016-05-12 03:50 am (UTC)Really, thank you so much. It's appreciated. If you need anything while you are here though I hope you won't end up in the immediate area, I can help.
